PETIT VERDOT
PRIMERA COSECHA 2020.

CDTPVPC_edited.png
An excellent harvest surprised us with this first Petit Verdot of young but vigorous plants that quickly adapted to the maritime microclimate.

This red with great fruit expression was not aged in oak and the grapes matured in a plot surrounded by native bush. With a robust body, it has a refreshing journey due to its exquisite natural acidity and ripe tannins.

The grapes were harvested on the night of March 11, 2020, from the NORTH 14 and NORTH 15 vineyard plots, located on a rocky slope facing west, and just three kilometers from the sea. With a loamy clay texture, gravel and different types of decomposing metamorphic rock are found in the soils of this petit verdot, a product of the Sierra de Ánimas geological formation. The petit verdot squares coexist with native mountain shrub vegetation, and a mountain of Coronilla trees.

Once the fruit entered the cellar, the clusters were destemmed and the must underwent cold prefermentation maceration for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation was activated in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts and after 10 days the pomace was pressed. During the maceration (at 24°C), two gentle pump-overs and daily stomping were carried out.

The wine was sent to stainless steel tanks, where malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging took place. The wine was not aged in contact with oak, and was bottled in December 2020, with natural stabilization and light filtering to preserve all its potential, so natural sediments can be found in the bottle.
